What to Do When Your Motorized Curtains Get Stuck

It’s always a bummer when your motorized curtains  get stuck. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to release the tension in your cord so that you can lower your curtains with ease.

-First, lower down and unplug the power cord from the outlet. This will free up some of the tension on your cords so they’re easier to move. -Next, take one end of the cord (the end closest to where it connects to the window) and pull out about 3 inches of slack from it. If this doesn’t work for you, try pulling out about 6 inches instead. You’ll want to make sure that you don’t pull too hard because doing so might cause damage. You should feel some resistance once you’ve pulled enough slack out of the cord; if not, try again until you find your sweet spot. Once you’ve found this spot, plug the power cord back into an outlet and give it a test run before continuing with your day.

How to Clean Your Motorized Curtains

Cleaning your motorized curtains is no easy feat. There are two common methods for cleaning these curtains, which are the following:

1) Fill a bucket with warm water and a few drops of dishwashing liquid. Dip a cloth in the water and run it over the curtains. Then rinse with clean water. Repeat as needed until satisfied with the result.

2) Fill a sink or large bowl with cold water, add 1 cup of laundry detergent, then soak the curtain for 10-15 minutes before washing it in cold water on its cycle in the washing machine. Air dry (or use an indoor drying rack).

Note that not all materials are suitable for either process. Polyester curtains should never be washed in the washing machine because they can create a lot of lint. Linen is best washed by hand because if you wash it too much it will become stiffer than what you want. Velvet needs special care when being cleaned and cannot be thrown into the washer because this material can get ruined easily by water and fabric softener. Most natural fibers like cotton, wool, silk, and linen are best treated by hand-washing them. When you need to clean delicate fabrics like velvet, always follow the garment’s care instructions first before proceeding with any cleaning processes as they may vary depending on brand or manufacturer.
